General Counsel & Member of the Law Advisory Committee
Abiola Aderibigbe is a dual-qualified solicitor in the UK (England & Wales) and EU (Ireland) whose practice spans commercial matters, construction and energy/infrastructure law, governance, and international project and development finance. As General Counsel and a Member of the Advisory Committee at the African Business Trade Association (ABTA), he leads legal strategy and strengthens governance to enable compliant market access, responsible partnerships and investor confidence across African markets.
A committed advocate for sector reform, Abiola champions a Nigerian Construction Act and has developed practical frameworks for contractor grading, building safety and payment certainty. He publishes frequently in academic journals and at conferences, and is featured in national and trade media for translating complex legal issues into actionable guidance.
Abiola is also an active educator and academic. He serves as Module Leader and Course Director on the LLM in International Construction Law at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in partnership with Informa Connect. He is also Course Director and Visiting Faculty at the International Faculty of Finance (Informa) and Faculty Director at the Chartered Institute of Professional Certifications. He holds an LLB (Hons) in Law from the University of Surrey, an LPC (PGDip) in International Legal Practice from the University of Law, and an LLM in Corporate Finance from the University of Westminster. He is currently a PhD candidate conducting research in Law, Technology and the Built Environment at LJMU, with ongoing engagement with the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law.
