Dr Dayo Abinusawa

Founder & Executive Director

Dr Dayo Abinusawa is the Founder and Executive Director of the African Business Trade Association (ABTA), providing visionary leadership to advance trade, investment, and sustainable growth across Africa. He brings extensive expertise in connecting businesses, investors, and policymakers—both local and international—to unlock opportunities, strengthen value chains, and drive circular and green economy solutions.

Under Dr Abinusawa’s leadership, ABTA delivers strategic market intelligence, curated partnerships, and practical frameworks that enable businesses and stakeholders to scale successfully. His mission is to create lasting value while positioning Africa as a competitive, resilient, and sustainable hub for trade and investment.

He previously served as European Deal Originator for US-based yet2Ventures, sourcing technology investment and acquisition deals. From 2021 to 2025, he held senior user research and product roles at Shell and Accenture in London, delivering human-centred digital solutions that improved operational performance and customer experience. Earlier in his career, he was Site Safety Manager on the 100 MW Trans Amadi Power Plant (and Transmission Lines) in Nigeria for Rockson Engineering and Business Development Adviser to Project Vision—Togo’s Economic Transformation Plan, led by Sir Paul Judge.

A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Dr Abinusawa lectured at the University of East London (2018–2019), University of Roehampton (2017–2018), King’s College London (2015–2017) and University of Cambridge (2013–2015), specialising in strategy, international business, corporate social responsibility and innovation. He holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge (2018), an MBA from the University of Glasgow (2011) and a BA (Hons) in Marketing from the University of East London (2010).
