
Dr Emile Rwagasana, African Union
Advisory Board
Dr Emile Rwagasana serves as an Advisor to the Global Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Leadership Organisation and has held the position of Deputy Chief of Staff at the African Union Commission since 2021. Prior to this, he served in various senior roles at the United Nations and within the Government of Rwanda.
He brings extensive international experience in organisational management, including change management, institutional reform, diplomacy, climate finance, and peace and security. A seasoned career diplomat, he has represented Rwanda in numerous international forums, notably as Head of Consular and Political Affairs in the People’s Republic of China.
He holds a Doctorate in Political Economics from the Swiss Management Center University in Switzerland and an MBA from Beijing Jiaotong University in China. He is fluent in English, French, Swahili, and Kinyarwanda, with working proficiency in Spanish and basic knowledge of Chinese.
