Matthew is a seasoned corporate finance professional with over 25 years’ experience spanning Trade and Export Finance, Asset Finance, and Asset-Based Lending. He has played a leading role in establishing and scaling several finance businesses, including as Co-Founding Managing Director of GMAC (UK) Asset Finance and Landsbanki Equipment Finance. He was also a founding director of Ex Works Capital’s London office, specialising in working capital bridge finance. Most recently, Matthew serves as Head of Origination at Scipion Capital, a private debt fund focused on trade finance.
Matthew’s expertise covers a wide range of financial disciplines, including international asset finance and ABL funding of corporate assets, structured and leveraged finance, global trade and export finance facilities, non-domestic receivables funding, supply chain finance, turnaround and restructuring finance, project finance, corporate auctioneering, valuation, and asset repatriation and disposals.
He has a strong track record in establishing and managing corporate finance businesses and building successful sales portfolios across the UK, USA, EMEA, and the Far East. Matthew maintains extensive senior-level relationships within the banking, financial services, and industrial sectors and has held leadership roles at several respected global banks, financial institutions, and corporates across the UK, Europe, the United States, and Australia.
Matthew is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Turnaround Management Association, London Trade Roundtable, the International Trade and Forfaiting Association (ITFA), the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, the Institute of Export, the British Exporters Association, and the British Venture Capital Association. He is also an FCA-registered individual.
Educated at The Latymer Grammar School in London, Matthew holds a degree in Finance and Leasing from City, University of London.
He currently holds and has held a number of Non-Executive Director roles, including with Accu Holding AG (Switzerland, 2012–2016), Overseas Development Corporation (USA, 2022–2025), Saints International (Nigeria, 2024–present), DenJets Ltd (Nigeria, 2024–present), and Key Finance Ltd (UK, 2025–present).
