Rob Cant

SingleSource Technologies

Advisory Committee, Regulation

Rob Cant spent the best part of 20 years as an international M&A lawyer before retiring to found his own technology company.

Rob rose through the ranks to become a partner at the international law firm Freshfields, where he focused on corporate law and specialised in advising on mergers and acquisitions (M&A).

While Rob advised on transactions across the globe, he particularly enjoyed working with many of the most active African - and Africa-focused - private equity houses, which helped him build a reputation as one of the go-to international lawyers with African expertise.

By the time he retired from law, Rob had become the co-head of the Freshfields Africa practice and had experience of working all across the continent. From this experience, Rob has built a deep network of senior contacts across Africa with whom he has worked closely for many years.

Nowadays, Rob spends most of his time focused on building SingleSource Technologies, a technology business serving the M&A industry, which he co-founded. Again, his client base is international, but he also still counts many Africa-focused investors amongst them.

Alongside SingleSource, Rob is also a director, senior advisor and/or investor in or to a number of companies across sectors and geographies, including Africa.

Outside of work, Rob is a huge football fan and is seemingly always able to turn a conversation into one about football.

Towards the end of his time as a lawyer, Rob was able to combine his personal and professional interests when one of his sovereign wealth fund clients asked him to become the General Counsel of a Premier League football club that they had acquired.

Rob is very enthusiastic about the opportunity to work together with other like-minded people looking to support African trade.
