Rod’s 35 years of experience as a Senior Leader within the Global Investment Management arena positions him exceptionally well to serve as an advisor to ABTA in the pursuit of delivering against its mission. During an extensive and broad-ranging investment career Rod has built up a deep understanding of what facilitates companies to operate at the highest level, and this Leadership knowledge will be invaluable to the team at ABTA as they further define their strategic objectives and expand their connections with new corporations across Africa. These demonstrable leadership skills have been honed through managing large teams and implementing complex investment strategies, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment within the different organisations he has worked for. He has an Economics Degree from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and spent time later in his career studying on the General Management Programme at Harvard Business School in Boston.

Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to innovation, identifying and implementing novel investment approaches and strategies to enhance returns and manage risk effectively. He is particularly interested in the work that ABTA has initiated in its early life and looks forward to liaising with the Team and the Clients over the coming years. His strategic development expertise allows him to analyse market trends, identify opportunities, and contribute to ABTA’s long-term development objectives.

Effective client communication has been paramount in his career roles, building trust and strong relationships with diverse investors globally. He possesses the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and concisely, and ultimately, he has a proven track record of delivering positive results for clients while driving commercial success for the underlying businesses he has operated in. He will be a valuable addition to the Committee, especially in the provision of insight in the areas of corporate risk oversight and governance.

Away from the work environment, Rod spends long hours on either the golf course or his garden, but these pursuits may gradually slip into the background as he has recently become a grandparent and new responsibilities beckon.
